Objectives:
- Support collaborative research projects between UK-based researchers and Luxembourg-based researchers within the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR) remit.
- Enable arts and humanities researchers to establish or enhance effective working relationships with fellow researchers, practitioners, and beneficiaries both within and beyond the UK and Luxembourg.
- Provide career development opportunities for less experienced researchers through collaboration with senior researchers.
- Maximise research impact by promoting communication, dissemination, and knowledge transfer beyond academia.
- Encourage interdisciplinary collaborations within arts and humanities or between arts and humanities and other disciplines, with arts and humanities leading the research questions and methods.
Target Beneficiaries:
- UK researchers actively engaged in postdoctoral research with a doctorate or equivalent experience, affiliated with AHRC-eligible UK research organisations.
- Luxembourg researchers from FNR-eligible institutions such as public research centres, University of Luxembourg, and authorised public bodies.
- Project co-leads including international researchers based outside the UK and Luxembourg.
- Collaborative teams involving multiple institutions, disciplines, sectors, and countries.
Application Process:
- Applications must be submitted via the UKRI Funding Service; Je-S system is not used.
- The project lead must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for AHRC funding.
- The full economic cost (FEC) of the UK-hosted element must be between £300,000 and £1.5 million; AHRC funds 80% of this.
- Luxembourg costs are funded by FNR through their system and must be justified separately.
- Applications undergo eligibility checks, expert independent review (minimum two supportive reviews required), applicant response stage, and panel moderation.
- Assessment criteria include vision, approach, team capability, ethics and responsible research, and cost justification.
- The maximum project duration is five years, with projects starting at least nine months after application submission.
- No closing date; applications are accepted continuously with regular decision points.
