Program Overview

Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) in Armenia is a funding program under Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) aimed at promoting economic and social development at the grassroots level. The program focuses on ensuring human security by supporting relatively small-scale projects that directly benefit local communities.

Objectives:

  • Contribute to world peace, stability, and prosperity through bilateral and multilateral channels.
  • Achieve economic and social development based on human security philosophy.
  • Address basic human needs and human security challenges such as survival, dignity, capacity building, displacement, refugee assistance, and transboundary environmental issues.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Local and international NGOs with at least 2 years of grant management experience and stable financial status.
  • Local municipalities.
  • Public institutions including schools and hospitals/clinics.
  • Individuals and private companies are not eligible.
  • Projects must be implemented in Armenia.

Key Features:

  • Annual grant competition announced by the Embassy of Japan in Armenia.
  • Priority fields include Education, Health, Welfare, Environment, Agriculture, Water and Sanitation, Mine risk reduction, Refugee assistance, and inclusiveness promotion.
  • Grant amount up to JPY 20,000,000 (approx. USD 143,884 in FY 2024).
  • Project duration up to 12 months.
  • Preference for projects with significant in-kind contributions and co-funding.
  • Eligible activities include provision of equipment, construction/renovation, and infrastructure establishment/rehabilitation.
  • Excludes loans and credits for military purposes.

Application Process:

  • Applicants must carefully read the Guideline and Terms and Conditions.
  • Submit Concept Note and Photos of the Project Site by February 28 to grassrootsjp@yv.mofa.go.jp.
