Community Development Grants (CDG) Programme

• Established in 2013 by the Australian Government.
• Administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts.
• Delivered under Outcome 3: Strengthening sustainability, capacity, and diversity of cities and regional economies by facilitating partnerships between government levels and local communities, stimulating economic growth, and providing grants.

Objectives:

• Support infrastructure that promotes stable, secure, and viable local and regional economies.
• Deliver government election commitments and other identified community and regional infrastructure projects.

Intended Outcomes:

• Construct or upgrade facilities to improve long-term social and economic viability of local communities.
• Create jobs during project delivery and ongoing infrastructure use.
• Enhance social amenity, health, wellbeing, and social cohesion through community use of infrastructure.

Key Features:

• Non-competitive grants program: only projects identified by the Australian Government are eligible.
• Projects include government election commitments since 2013 and other government-initiated projects.
• Administered according to Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs).

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be legal entities with an Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN).
• Only government-identified projects are considered for funding.

Application Process:

• No open application process; eligible applicants are contacted directly by the government for identified projects.
