Defence Industry Development Grants Program - Exports Stream

Objective:

• To build Australia's industrial base to achieve Defence outcomes in strategic priority areas.
• Support small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in overcoming export barriers.
• Help defence industry build scale and competitiveness in defence capability priority areas aligned with Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities.

Target Beneficiaries:

• Australian SMEs with fewer than 200 employees.
• Entities must have an Australian Business Number (ABN), be registered for GST, have an Australian financial institution account, and not be income tax exempt.
• Eligible entities include incorporated Australian businesses, companies limited by guarantee, and incorporated trustees on behalf of trusts.
• Ineligible applicants include individuals, partnerships, overseas organizations, unincorporated associations, government bodies, and certain non-compliant organizations.

Key Features:

• Part of a broader Defence Industry Development Grants Program running from 2024-25 to 2027-28.
• Four grant streams: Sovereign Industrial Priorities, Skilling, Exports, and Security.
• Exports stream specifically targets export growth and competitiveness for SMEs in defence.
• Total funding pool of AUD 169.1 million.
• Grant amounts range from AUD 15,000 to AUD 250,000.
• Applications assessed in batches with ongoing intake; applicants can apply anytime.
• Lead organisation in partnerships must submit the application and manage the grant agreement.
