Description and Objectives:
- The GET program aims to accelerate the development, trialling, and application of grid enhancing technologies in Australian electricity networks.
- It seeks to maximize capacity and utilization of existing infrastructure to support secure, reliable, and affordable energy.
- Objectives include demonstrating and testing the effectiveness of these technologies and identifying costs and benefits for wider application.
Target Beneficiaries:
- Eligible applicants include Australian incorporated entities, universities, publicly funded research organisations, and Commonwealth, state, territory, or local government bodies (including government business enterprises).
- Applicants must have an Australian Business Number (ABN), be registered for GST, and not be income tax exempt.
- Ineligible applicants include individuals, unincorporated associations, partnerships, trusts (unless incorporated trustee), and certain non-compliant organizations.
Key Features and Outcomes:
- Up to $30 million in competitive grant funding is available over four years (2025-26 to 2028-29).
- Grants range from $250,000 to $5,000,000.
- Expected outcomes include:
- Greater utilization and productivity of existing network infrastructure.
- Increased renewable energy flow to consumers, reducing wholesale power prices.
- Addressing congestion “black spots” to reduce renewable energy curtailment.
- Delaying or reducing the need for new network infrastructure, lowering costs and environmental impact.
- Improved network visibility, control, resilience, and safety against bushfires, extreme weather, cyber threats, and other risks.

- Applications open on 15 July 2025 and close on 25 August 2025 at 5:00 pm ACT local time.
