Program Overview

Purpose:

Provide emergency funding to IAHP funded organisations in response to urgent or unforeseen issues affecting service delivery. Funding is one-off or time-limited, not for ongoing projects.

Objectives:

  • Ensure continuity of primary health care services by IAHP funded organisations during unforeseen circumstances.
  • Address urgent needs for equipment purchase, repair, or infrastructure (including temporary structures) due to emergencies or natural disasters.

Key Features:

  • Supports activities such as purchasing necessary equipment, targeted funding for emergency physical, social, or emotional health needs, and repair or installation of infrastructure.
  • Funding aims to maintain culturally appropriate, high-quality primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Total funding pool of AUD 20 million.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Organisations currently funded under IAHP.
  • Organisations invited by the Department of Health and Aged Care due to experiencing urgent, unforeseen, or emergency circumstances beyond their existing funding capacity.
  • Organisations assessed as capable of delivering project activities and mitigating risks impacting service delivery.

Application Process:

  • Invitation-only; applicants must receive a direct invitation from the Department.
  • Applications submitted via GrantConnect with required forms and attachments by the closing date.
  • Automated email confirmation upon submission; technical support available via GrantConnect Helpdesk.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be IAHP funded and invited by the Department.
  • Must demonstrate urgent/emergency circumstances impacting service delivery.
  • Must have infrastructure, administration, and capability to deliver project outcomes.

This program ensures IAHP organisations can rapidly respond to emergencies, maintaining essential health services for Indigenous Australians.
