Linkage Projects for funding applied for in 2025

Objectives:

• Support internationally competitive research projects and teams addressing challenges or opportunities relevant to research end-users.
• Foster establishment and strengthening of research alliances between higher education organizations and research end-users.
• Enhance the scale and focus of research, including in Australian Government priority areas.

Target Beneficiaries:

• Higher education institutions collaborating with research end-users.
• Chief Investigators (CIs) and Partner Investigators (PIs) who meet eligibility criteria, including employment and residency requirements.
• Research teams aiming for economic, commercial, environmental, social, and cultural benefits for Australia.

Key Features:

• Funding range: AUD 100,000 to AUD 1,500,000.
• Project duration: 2 to 5 consecutive years.
• Two assessment rounds for 2025 funding applications.
• Applications must be submitted through the Research Office of an Eligible Organisation via the Research Management System (RMS).
• Applicants must present a mature research plan ready for implementation.
• Limit of four concurrent Linkage Program projects per named participant as CI or Director.
• Emphasis on collaboration outcomes, new knowledge generation, and benefits aligned with government priorities.
