Program Overview

The MRFF 2024 Rapid Applied Research Translation funding program is part of the Medical Research Future Fund and the Rapid Applied Research Translation Initiative in Australia. It aims to support the translation of research evidence into clinical practice to improve patient care quality and health service sustainability.

Objectives:

  • Deliver late-stage translational research directly relevant to clinical care, health services, or health practices with potential for policy and practice translation.
  • Use existing knowledge to accelerate translation of research findings into improved healthcare and interventions.
  • Address clearly defined gaps in best practice healthcare and interventions to improve health outcomes, identified by collaborating health services.
  • Involve all relevant stakeholders, including healthcare consumers and providers, in research conceptualization, design, and implementation.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Australian entities with an ABN and incorporated in Australia, including medical research institutes, universities, corporate Commonwealth entities, and corporations (businesses and not-for-profits).
  • Two funding streams:
    • Stream 1 (Accelerator): Chief Investigators can be from any area according to the Modified Monash Model (MM1-7).
    • Stream 2 (Accelerator): Chief Investigator A and at least 50% of Chief Investigators must reside in regional, rural, or remote areas (MM2-7) for at least 12 months before application.
