Program Overview

Objectives:

  • Foster collaborative industrial R&D projects with high commercialization potential.
  • Focus on circular value creation, emphasizing innovative product design, cross-sector partnerships, new materials, and technologies.
  • Promote business models centered on longevity, reuse, and recycling.
  • Enhance sustainable economic growth, competitiveness, and job creation.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Canadian incorporated, profit-oriented SMEs with ≤500 full-time employees, operational for at least 12 months.
  • SMEs must have a minimum of 5 full-time employees in Canada and demonstrate growth potential through international market expansion.
  • Consortia must include at least one eligible Canadian SME and one organization from a Eureka member country.
  • Other Canadian organizations (research institutes, universities, large enterprises) may participate self-funded or as subcontractors.
  • Projects must have a civilian purpose and demonstrate complementary technological contributions from partners.

Application Process:

Four phases for Canadian applicants: Registration, Expression of Interest (EOI), International Consortium Project Proposal (ICPP), and National Funding Body Proposal and Funding Agreement.

  • Registration involves submitting basic applicant info.
  • EOI requires project outline and discussion with NRC IRAP Industrial Technology Advisor.
  • ICPP includes submitting a Eureka project application, NRC IRAP SME Annex, and draft consortium agreement.
  • Final phase involves funding proposals and agreements with national funding bodies.
  • Foreign partners follow their national funding body’s application and funding procedures.

Key Features:

  • Funding up to 50% of eligible project costs, max CAD 500,000 over 12-36 months for Canadian SMEs.
  • Projects must show balanced contributions (no partner >70% effort) and benefits to Canada.
  • Collaborative projects must have clear IP rights and commercialization plans.
  • Open to all technology sectors with a focus on circular value creation.
  • Deadlines: Canadian registration by August 11, 2025; EOI by August 20, 2025; consortium proposal by September 30, 2025.
  • Managed by NRC IRAP in Canada, with joint evaluation alongside international partners.
