Program Overview

Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) in Pakistan by the Government of Japan is a funding program under Official Development Assistance (ODA) aimed at supporting small-scale social development projects at the grassroots level. The program targets non-profit organizations such as local/international NGOs, community-based organizations (CBOs), village organizations, local institutions, schools, and hospitals working in social development.

Objectives:

  • To provide flexible and timely support to small-scale development projects.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Non-profit organizations implementing social development projects.
  • Priority is given to projects benefiting women directly (Women in Development - WID).
  • Projects in basic education, primary health, vocational training, special education, agriculture, public welfare/basic infrastructure, and environment sectors.

Key Features:

  • Support excludes federal/provincial government bodies, universities, private institutions, and industrial corporations.
  • Multi-year projects can be supported but require annual re-application.
  • Eligible support includes facilities/buildings and equipment directly used by beneficiaries or implementing organizations.
  • Excludes salaries, bursaries, running costs, and consumer goods.
  • Average grant amount is around 10 million yen, with exceptions possible.

Application Process:

  • Applicants must carefully read guidelines and complete the application form.
  • Required documents include application form, cost breakdown with quotations, questionnaire, and covering letter.
  • Applications must be sent by post to the GGP Unit at the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad or Consulate General in Karachi (for Sindh and Balochistan).
  • Proposals are not accepted by fax or email.
