Objectives:
- Accelerate the uptake of electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints in flats, rental accommodations, apartment blocks, and commercially let properties.
- Support landlords in installing EV chargepoints and related infrastructure to promote sustainable transport.
Target Beneficiaries:
- Residential landlords including individuals, companies, right to manage companies, residents’ management companies, freehold owners, property factors, private registered providers of social housing, public sector organizations, charities managing residential properties, and registered social housing providers.
- Commercial landlords can apply only for the EV chargepoint grant (not infrastructure grant) for properties leased to businesses.
- Properties must be in the UK (excluding Channel Islands and Isle of Man).
- Eligible properties include flats, houses, apartment blocks, and commercial properties with off-street, private, and tenant-accessible parking spaces.
Funding Details:
- EV Chargepoint Grant: 75% off the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint socket, up to £350 per socket.
- EV Infrastructure Grant: 75% off the cost of wider building and installation work (e.g., wiring, posts) up to £30,000, covering multiple parking spaces (minimum 5 spaces).
- Maximum 200 residential and 100 commercial chargepoint grants per year.
- Up to 30 infrastructure grants per year for residential carparks.
- Infrastructure grants are only for residential landlords.
Application Process:
- Must use OZEV-approved installers and chargepoints.
- Create a landlord account on the OZEV grant portal.
- Provide company registration or VAT number.
- Submit separate applications for residential and commercial properties.
- Installer completes the claim after installation with photos and invoice.
- Grant paid to installer as a discount on the invoice.
- OZEV may audit installations for compliance.
Key Features:
- Grant excludes installations mandated by regulations or planning conditions.
- Requires electrical supply upgrades, maintenance plans, and accessibility arrangements.
- Parking spaces must be legally owned or have rights to use.
- Infrastructure grants require at least one chargepoint installation and work on at least 5 parking spaces.
- Scheme open until 31 March 2026, subject to government changes with notice.
