Objectives:
- Provide financial support to small and medium-sized businesses for installing electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints and supporting infrastructure.
- Encourage adoption of EVs by facilitating charging facilities for staff and fleet vehicles.
Target Beneficiaries:
- Small and medium-sized businesses with 249 employees or fewer.
- Businesses must be registered at Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC.
- Properties must be in the UK (excluding Channel Islands and Isle of Man).
- Chargepoints must be for staff and fleet use only, not public use.
Key Features:
- Covers 75% of installation costs, up to £15,000 maximum.
- Up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed.
- Up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure.
- Minimum of 5 parking spaces must be worked on (either with chargepoints or prepared for future installation).
- Up to 5 grants allowed across 5 different sites.
- Must use OZEV-approved installers and eligible commercial chargepoints.
- Installation cannot be a mandatory requirement under building regulations or planning conditions.
- Applicants must assess and maintain fire safety measures related to EV chargepoints.
- Financial assistance capped at £315,000 over 3 financial years including other state aid.
Application Process:
- Complete necessary electrical upgrades and maintenance plans before applying.
- Use OZEV-authorised installers and select eligible chargepoint models.
- Create an account on the OZEV Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grants portal.
- Provide company registration or VAT number, installer details, and site information.
- Installer submits the claim after installation with photos and invoice.
- Applicant reviews and approves the claim online.
- Grant amount is deducted from the installer’s invoice.
- OZEV may audit installations to ensure compliance.
Dates:
- Open from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026.
- Government may end or change the scheme with 4 weeks’ notice but will honor claims made before changes.
This grant supports businesses in reducing EV infrastructure costs, promoting sustainable transport, and preparing for future EV adoption by staff and fleet vehicles.
