Marine Fund Scotland 2025-2026

is a Scottish Government funding program aimed at supporting projects that contribute to an innovative and sustainable marine economy in Scotland. The fund aligns with Scotland’s Blue Economy Vision, which targets ecosystem health, improved livelihoods, economic prosperity, social inclusion, and wellbeing by 2045.

• Support eligible individuals, businesses, organizations, and communities to deliver projects benefiting Scotland’s marine sectors.
• Focus on projects that demonstrate wider collective benefits, such as positive community outcomes beyond individual gains.
• Fund projects starting and delivering within the 2025-26 financial year, with all expenditures completed by 31 March 2026.
• Grants totaled over £14 million in 2025, with awards up to £1.7 million.
• Funding covers up to 30% of costs for most business projects, 50% for SMEs, and up to 60% for fisher organizations acting collectively. In some cases, 100% funding is possible for high collective benefit projects.

Target beneficiaries:

• Individuals and organizations involved in commercial and recreational fishing, aquaculture, seafood processing and marketing, seafood supply chain, ports and harbours operations.
• Research and development bodies, innovators benefiting marine space, environmental protection and enhancement groups.
• Community initiatives like beach cleans, events, education, and statutory bodies protecting recreational fisheries.
• The fund excludes direct engine replacements/upgrades and routine fishing gear replacements but supports novel technologies and innovative gear development.

Application process:

• Open from 18 June 2025 to 22 July 2025.
• Projects must fall within the scope of Scottish Ministers’ grant funding powers under the Fisheries Act 2020.
• Applicants must demonstrate alignment with the fund’s desired outcomes and eligibility criteria.
