Smart Traffic Fund

The Smart Traffic Fund provides comprehensive funding support for vehicle-related innovation and technology projects that align with Hong Kong's smart mobility objectives.

Objectives:

• Enhancing commuting convenience through intelligent transportation solutions
• Improving efficiency of the road network and optimization of road space utilization
• Advancing driving safety through innovative technologies

Projects must align with the Smart City Blueprint for Hong Kong or Smart Mobility Roadmap.

Project Types:

• Research and Application Projects (combining research with practical implementation, up to HK$20 million funding)
• Pure Research Projects (focused on theoretical research and development, up to HK$8 million funding)

Applicant Contributions:

• Applicants from the public sector (including designated R&D centers and UGC-funded universities) must contribute at least 10% of project costs
• Corporate sector applicants must contribute at least 50%

Administration and Eligibility:

The fund operates under a Management Committee chaired by the Deputy Commissioner for Transport, which reviews applications in batches.

Projects receiving other public funding support are not eligible.
