Program Overview

The program aims to address root causes of injustice through systemic change and collaborative movement building.

Objectives:

  • Support activities and movements based in Asia, Latin America, Middle East, or globally with a Global South focus.
  • Prioritize systemic approaches that affect how entire systems function.
  • Encourage South-South collaboration across countries or territories.
  • Promote non-violent initiatives addressing interconnected systems of injustice.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Social movements, associations, organizations, cooperatives, collectives, and networks based in the specified regions.
  • Groups with a focus on systemic change and non-violent approaches.
  • Unregistered groups can apply with a registered fiscal sponsor.

Application Process:

  • Currently, no open calls for new grantee partnerships; new applications accepted by invitation only.
  • Interested groups can submit a short note of interest via Karibu’s Grant Management System.
  • Current or previous grantees can apply by deadlines: 28 February, 6 May, 6 August, and 28 October.
  • Applicants must submit a concept note (max 10 pages) or optional video and a simple budget draft.
  • Application guidelines and FAQs are provided on the official website.

Key Features:

  • Grant size ranges from USD 5,000 to 20,000 annually.
  • Funding duration up to 24 months.
  • Up to 50% of funds can be used for core costs (salaries, office rent, insurance).
  • Does not support for-profit, government programs, infrastructure, humanitarian aid, capital investments, individual scholarships, or projects limited to local/national scope.
  • Emphasizes flexible, participatory grantmaking inspired by Global South movements.
